Hilton Head Island Local Beach Restuarant

Favorite Eats in Hilton Head

During my stay at Hilton Head, there are obviously a TON of restaurants to choose from. I like to stray away from the normal “chain” restaurants since I can eat at those places any time I want to. So, here are some of the places I found and what I liked most about them.

Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks

Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks was definitely at the top of my list as it had two of my favorite things: sunshine and the ocean. The deck portion itself was not too much larger than what you see here; to the right, there is a bar with seating as well as a couple more tables. Depending on the time of year you go, I would highly recommend going in the evening, or if you do go in the afternoon make sure you get a table in the shade; it was very hot out there! They did have some fans mounted outside, but to be honest you couldn’t really feel them. On this day, in particular, a slight breeze was going through but it wasn’t windy at all. Aside from the heat, the atmosphere really was beautiful, and we even got to see a few dolphins swim by! There is also indoor seating available, but the only time I had gone inside was to use the restroom facilities, so I can’t say how the indoor seating atmosphere was.

Our waiter was very cheerful and prompt, but hey, who wouldn’t be that happy if you got to work outside in such beautiful conditions, right? I ordered the crab cake appetizer and I can 100% say that it was one of the best I have ever eaten; so much flavor! I didn’t order anything too ‘beachy’ for my lunch entree, instead, I ordered a Caesar Salad with Salmon, and it was delicious! We did also order an appetizer off of their Happy Hour Menu, the Parmesan Truffle Fries, and HOLY CRAP these babies were A-MAZ-ING! They were a creation of House-Made Fries, Truffle Oil, Parmesan Cheese, Garlic Aioli. If any of you ever try this place, those fries are a must!

Skull Creek Tavern Hilton Head Island

Skull Creek Boathouse is one that will always be at the top of my list, and actually located right next door to Hudson’s. Skull Creek instantly became one of our favorites and enjoyed dinner here at least three other times during our stay. I thought Hudson’s had amazing views, and they do, but boy Skull Creek really topped it! The first evening we dinned here, we sat at the bar seating and had two hilarious waiters taking care of us; I truly wish I could remember their names. Every single staff member we encountered was so friendly and went out of their way to assist everyone.

They have a pretty extensive menu and has great options for everyone, yes, even for picky eaters or children’s items. We ordered the Hot Peel-N-Eat Shrimp as an appetizer, delicious as always wherever you order it, and for my entree I had the Salmon Rockefeller. Let me tell you about this one: Atlantic Salmon fillet topped with Creamed Spinach, Pernod, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Hollandaise Sauce, Yukon Gold Smashed Potatoes, and Seasonal Vegetables; all I can say is “WOW!” about how flavorful this dish was! Other items we tried off the menu throughout the week were the Filet, Ribeye, Crab Cakes, Cajun Chicken Pasta, among other items.

After dinner, we sat outside on their patio seating to enjoy a few glasses of wine and the view. Below are a few more pictures from the other nights we were there, the atmosphere was just so beautiful! They do not really have a patio drink service where we sat outside afterwards (outside of the normal dining area), which was fine since we were so close to the bar we could walk up and order another glass of wine. Periodically the bartenders would come check on us if they were not busy, but that was rare.

They have a lot of entertainment ranging from live bands, DJs, Dueling Pianos, Ladies Night and many more! If you’re in the area, you can check out their event list by clicking here to see what’s coming soon. Skull Creek Boathouse definitely earned a 10/10 in my book and would love to return in the future if I am ever in the area.

Have you been to either of these restaurants before? What is your favorite dish to eat or favorite thing about the restaurant? If not, what are some of your favorite places to eat in Hilton Head? I’d love to hear your favorite dinner stories!
